Here's a photo of Epcot Center at Disney World. Notice how unobtrusive the Monorail beam appears in this photograph. A water crossing doesn't seem to be a problem for this Monorail.

View from the Monorail of Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel. The elevated beam guides the Monorail right into the hotel! The monorail is so quiet that there are hotel rooms just above the Monorail station inside of the hotel!

Interior of the Contemporary Resort Hotel. The Monorail enters at about 'treetop' level just to left of center. The Monorail station would be located just out of view to the far left at the level of the lit lamps. Hotel rooms are located on the left just above the Monorail. Try doing that with light rail!
